7 Basic qualifications of good Lasik eye surgery candidates

You should be 18 years of age or more
The eyes must be properly developed and mature, so a good
LASIK candidate must be at least 18 years or older. However,
people who have reached or are close to reaching the age of
40 should consider that their vision may be affected by
conditions that cannot be treated with Lasik surgery, such
as presbyopia.

You should have stable vision for at least one year, two is better before your Lasik

as Dilantin, Tegretol, and Phenobarbitol may have

standards. If you are myopic with a prescription of -6.0 Diopters or higher, the
curvature would be too steep for safety in flap creation. Patients

People with autoimmune disorders may not be good Lasik candidates
Medical conditions with a compromised autoimmune system such
as diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, fibromyalgia, etc
that affect flap healing after Lasik eye surgery. Cure to
these diseases in order to become a good candidate for Lasik
eye surgery.

Eye conditions such as cataracts , glaucoma , retinal
detachment , dry eyes syndrome, keratoconus, ocular herpes,
and diabetic retinopathy may cause additional risks or
complications for Lasik. You must free of eye disease for a
year or longer in order to become a good candidate for Lasik
eye surgery.
