The cataract surgery in the future after Lasik

People who had LASIK Eye operation also can have cataract surgery. However, about 10% of those patients will need a glasses following cataract surgery for the best visual result.

During Lasik surgery the shape of the cornea is changed. Due to the altered shape of the cornea, it is difficult to assess the degree of power needed for the artificial lens that is inserted during cataract surgery. This means that If the implant measurements are not perfect, the vision of patients who have Lasik will be out of focus, they may be right back in glasses after cataract surgery. In some practices, about 10% of patients that have had previous Lasik will need a glasses following cataract surgery for the best visual result.

As more LASIK patients undergo cataract surgery, eye surgeons will gain more insight into the techniques and methods that work best. With more patients and data from surgeries, they can refine their formulas for measuring the required power of the lens, and improve accuracy and clarity of vision.
