What is Laser Blended Vision? Cons & Pros
Laser blended vision also known as Monovision (sometimes also
called Lasik Monovision surgery), is a laser eye treatment which
corrects short-sight in one eye and long sight in the other. It
is primarily used to treat presbyopia or other age-related eye
conditions which usually affect patients in their middle age.
Laser Blended Vision adjusts each eye in different ways. One eye is adjusted
to see mostly at distance, and a little close up, while the other is the
opposite, mostly up close and a little at distance.
In most cases, the brain then knows to switch back and forth between distance
and close-up vision without causing a distraction to the patient. It combines
the two images to give much greater depth of vision, and an all-round
improvement in visual acuity that means most patients can throw away those
infuriating reading glasses.
If you use glasses to read prior to LASIK eye surgery or you
remove your glasses to read, you may need to use glasses for
reading after LASIK, because LASIK does not treat the lens
inside the eye. However, a Blended Vision procedure may provide
you with suitable near and distance vision.
